2008 POTY finals voting now open!
You may remember me mentioning the 2008 Picture of the Year (2008) competition during February and wondered what happened to the final round of voting. Well, it’s finally upon us :) and take this opportunity to appreciate the wonders of automated voting systems!
From 501 contenders, 51 have made it to the final — the top proportional number from each category. For the first time, we have category winners, which I think is a great idea. The single final overall winner will be drawn from this pool of 51.
Here are the finalists from emblems and diagrams:
These are 8-cell-simple.gif, Simple_CV_Joint_animated.gif and Wrist_and_hand_deeper_palmar_dissection-numbers.svg. You can find the total vote counts for each image in this category here. Only four images in this category gained over 100 votes — these three and the unlucky Rubik’s Cube SVG.
With any luck I will make a series of these images for each category. Remember, in the final you can only vote for one of the 51 choices. Check out the voting page for more information about how to cast your vote. Voting closes at the end of the month. And if you’d to vote for something that doesn’t require as much agonising, vote YES for licensing sanity! :))
